This pop-up exhibit was designed to raise awareness about the rapid loss of marine biodiversity. Though many statistics and articles exist, we felt it was more powerful and effective if viewers were able to see how much impact humans have by experiencing what the marine life goes through.
We focused on four major factors that contributed to the loss of marine biodiversity: pollution, overfishing, global warming, and tourism.
Inside each window contains a different sensation. For example, there is a small personal heater that is located in the Global Warming window to simulate the rising temperatures of ocean water.
The back side contains no controls whatsoever to show how powerless the marine life is in relation to humans.
The use of projection allows other viewers to see the interaction while it is in use.
The control panel is powered by MakeyMakey.
